Trey Huff, a 5-foot-10 senior quarterback and defensive back at Lincoln County, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Huff has passed for 742 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 632 yards and nine touchdowns for the 8-2 Red Devils.
Week 12 Team of the Week: Harlem
Harlem won its first region title since 1974 last week with a 27-13 victory over Morgan County in Region 4-3A. The victory was especially satisfying for coach Mark Boiter, a Harlem alumnus who has worked at his alma mater the past 17 years, or since leaving college.
Week 12 Player of the Week: Brunswick’s Terry Mitchell
A team needs play-makers to win its second consecutive region title, and Brunswick has Terry Mitchell. The junior wide receiver – listed at 5 feet, 8 inches and 150 pounds – scored on a 53-yard reception and a 73-yard punt return in the first half as Brunswick took a 20-6 lead over Effingham County in the game that decided the Region 2-6A championship.

The Otter’s Offensive Line of the Week is LaGrange’s unit of Jycel Mosley, Clanton Reisinger, Jayden White, K.T. Owens, Kelijah Parks and Jaden Ligon and tight end J'Arthur Dunn.
Flag Football Player of the Week: Trinity Christian’s Anna Grace Moore
Anna Grace Moore, a freshman at Trinity Christian, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Moore passed for 198 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 115 yards in victories over Newnan and Whitewater last week.
Week 11 Student-Athlete of the Week: Rome’s Reece Fountain
Reece Fountain, a 6-foot junior quarterback at Rome, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Fountain has passed for 2,101 yards and 20 touchdowns this season for the Wolves, who are 8-1 and ranked No. 6 in Class 6A.
Week 11 Team of the Week: Stephens County
When odds are long, Stephens County thrives. The Indians were given a 5.9% chance of winning Region 8-3A in preseason by the computer Maxwell Ratings. Region rivals Oconee County, Monroe Area and Hebron Christian have been ranked in the top 10 at various times this season.
Week 11 Player of the Week: Gainesville’s Darius Cannon
Gainesville’s hopes for its first region title since 2013 were looking bleak Friday night until destiny met Darius Cannon. With his team down 21-7 in the third quarter, the senior wide receiver returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Gainesville still trailed 21-19 with 4:18 left when Cannon caught the game-winning touchdown on a 69-yard tunnel screen.

The Otter’s Chicken Offensive Line of the Week is Telfair County’s starting five of Charlie Allen, Devin McRae, Jacob McMillian, Wes Pope and Christon Zanders with tight ends D.J. Morgan and Bradyn Cook.
Flag Football Player of the Week: St. Anne-Pacelli’s Kendall Isaacs
Kendall Isaacs, a sophomore quarterback at St. Anne-Pacelli, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Isaacs was 32-of-47 passing for 441 yards in victories last week over Carver of Columbus, Jordan and St. Mary’s.
Week 10 Student-Athlete of the Week: Marist’s Jackson Hughes
Jackson Hughes, a 5-foot-11, 225-pound junior fullback at Marist, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Hughes has run for 317 yards and seven touchdowns on 61 carries.
Week 10 Team of the Week: Spencer
Spencer High hasn’t won a region title since Odis Spencer retired in 1972, but it’s determined to honor its historic coach with a championship this season. Spencer’s 14-13 victory last week over Northeast put the Greenwave in first place in 2-2A.
Week 10 Player of the Week: Jefferson’s Sammy Brown
Jefferson’s Sammy Brown scored all six of his team’s touchdowns, one on a 97-yard run, another on a 30-yard over-the-shoulder catch, in the Dragons’ 42-6 victory over then-No. 3 Loganville in a game that decided first place in Region 8-5A.

Flag Football Player of the Week: Hebron Christian’s Mia James
Mia James, a sophomore at Hebron Christian, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Playing quarterback, James led Hebron to a 7-0 record over five days last week with victories over Oconee County, Shiloh, Lanier, Dacula, Calvary Day, Lakeside of Atlanta and Kennesaw Mountain.
Week 9 Student-Athlete of the Week: Ware County’s Nikao Smith
Nikao Smith, a 6-foot-1 junior quarterback at Ware County, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Smith has a 4.3 GPA and has received interest from Harvard, Yale and Dartmouth.
Week 9 Team of the Week: Cambridge
Cambridge, a north Fulton County school that opened in 2012, is one victory from its first region title. The Bears won their biggest game of the season last week, a 42-24 victory over then-No. 5 Kell, to take first place in Region 6-5A.
Week 9 Player of the Week: Buford’s Justice Haynes
Justice Haynes’ 214 yards against Mill Creek in a game between unbeaten teams last week moved him ahead of NFL rookie and former Florida and Bainbridge star Dameon Pierce into 11th place all-time in Georgia rushing history.
