Week 10 Student-Athlete of the Week: Marist’s Jackson Hughes

Jackson Hughes, a 5-foot-11, 225-pound junior fullback at Marist, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Hughes has run for 317 yards and seven touchdowns on 61 carries and is the leading rusher for the War Eagles, who are 6-2 and ranked No. 8 in Class 6A. In a 42-17 victory over North Atlanta last week, he had 50 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries in a little more than a quarter. Hughes has a 4.2 GPA ad is being recruited by Dartmouth, Princeton, Penn and the U.S. Naval Academy. “Jackson is one of the most focused and dedicated players I have ever coached,” Marist coach Alan Chadwick said. “His love of the game and complete burning desire to work and improve himself is extraordinary. Jackson works year round on his football skills and has done so since middle school, lifting, running, training, stretching, ball skills and more. His total commitment is a coach's dream and a great example for all of our players in our program.”
