Round 2 Team of the Week: Jackson County

Jackson County has made history in a number of ways this season – first region title, first 10-win season, first playoff victory.

But last week's accomplishments – a 24-19 victory over Milton and a first trip to the quarterfinals – made Jackson County something bigger than just a good regional story. Milton was a two-time reigning state champion and won the public school national championship last year.

Jackson County head coach Korey Mobbs and the team’s seniors accepted the GHSF Daily Team of the Week award after beating two-time defending state champion Milton in the Class 5A second round.

Jackson County took the lead for good on R.J. Knapp’s 7-yard pass to Kaleb Clark with 21 seconds left in the first half. Daylan Maxwell rushed for 193 yards, and his second TD run with 2:21 left in the game made the score 24-7.

Jackson County moves on to play Rome in a home game this week but is no longer under the radar.

Jackson County is GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week. The award is sponsored by BSN Sports and Siemens.
