Round 2 Player of the Week: Rome’s Aidan McPherson

Rome put the game in the hands of Aidan McPherson last week, and he took care of it.

Playing in a downpour most of the game, the junior quarterback was 19-of-31 passing for 316 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 113 yards on 25 carries. Rome beat Houston County 38-28 in a Class 5A game between top-10 teams.

“People don’t know this kid yet, but they will,” Rome coach John Reid said. “He’s got elite arm strength, and his foot speed is sub-11 in the 100 meters. He’s not a big kid, maybe 5-10, 180, but that just describes him physically. He’s a 4.0 student and a captain and a great leader. Kids just rally around him.”
