Flag Football Player of the Week: Columbus QB/DB Harmony Franklin

Harmony Franklin, a junior quarterback and defensive back at Columbus, is GHSF Daily’s flag football player of the week. Franklin has thrown for 2,251 yards and 43 touchdowns, rushed for 686 yards and five touchdowns and caught 33 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns for a 16-1 team. She has made 25 flag pulls and intercepted 10 passes. Columbus was a state runner-up last season and graduated its quarterback. Primarily a receiver last season, Franklin took over the position. Distributing the ball came naturally, as she’s the point guard on the school’s girls basketball team. “What truly separates her is that she dominates the game on both sides of the ball,” Columbus coach Christian Grier said. “Defensively, she’s a straight-up ball hawk. Her instincts are incredible, she sees routes develop before the receivers do, jumps passing lanes with confidence, and doesn’t let anything get past her. Offense has to game-plan around her, and defense must adjust to her. She’s that type of player who changes everything the moment she steps on the field.”
