Week 4 Team of the Week: Lithonia

A season after going 1-9, two years removed from 0-10, Lithonia perked up with a 6-4 finish last year, but first-year coach Kevin Barnes wasn’t satisfied. The Bulldogs didn’t make the playoffs. They could’ve tolerated three region losses, but not four.

This week, Barnes is feeling better, for now. Lithonia last week avenged one of those region losses – against Tucker, winning 27-20 after losing 41-7. If they win the games in which they are favored from here, they’ll make the playoffs with at least seven victories, the most in more than 30 years.

Lithonia head coach Kevin Barnes and the team captains were joined by Marshall Hunter of Siemens and Ryan Colter and Greg Mercier of BSN Sports for the presentation of GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week award after the Bulldogs beat Tucker 27-20 in Week 4.

“It was disappointing going 6-4 and not getting into any postseason,” Barnes said. “This doesn’t relieve all the tension, but it’s a relief to know we’ve gotten one under your belt.”

A DeKalb County native, Barnes also could appreciate that this was Lithonia's first victory over Tucker since 1992.

Lithonia is GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week. The award is sponsored by BSN Sports and Siemens.
