Class 3A-A Private: Hebron Christian 28, Calvary Day 21

Recap: Hebron Christian took a 21-0 lead 18 minutes into the game, shut down Calvary Day’s run game and intercepted three passes as Calvary became one-dimensional. Calvary’s punting misadventures led to Hebron scoring drives of 1, 25 and 27 yards. The first came after a high snap, the second after a 17-yard punt, the third after a 19-yard punt. Calvary didn’t get a first down until its fifth possession and scored its first touchdown on a 64-yard drive after abandoning the run. Calvary’s James Mobley passed for 236 yards but was intercepted twice by Jarvis Mathurin, once by Max Steve, all in Hebron territory. Steve also had a sack and a team-leading six solo tackles. Calvary had one possession after getting within 28-21 and did not get a first down. Calvary’s Elisha Williams had four tackles for losses totaling 30 yards.

History: Hebron Christian (12-1) defended its championship under a second coach. Kenny Dallas, who replaced Jonathan Gess, became the 17th coach in GHSA history to win state titles at two schools. He won at Trinity Christian in 2021. Calvary Day, playing in its first final since 2013, finished 12-2.
