GHSA games this century decided by a 3-0 score
Kell beat Blessed Trinity by an unusual score of 3-0 last week. There have been 71 GHSA games decided by a 3-0 score this century. In only one season this century, 2024, has there been no 3-0 game. Part of what made the Kell-Blessed Trinity game stand out was that Blessed Trinity was a top-10 team. Kell is only the seventh team to defeat a top-10 team 3-0 since 2000. The most inexplicable 3-0 game in GHSA history took place in the previous century. In 1979, Emanuel County Institute beat Johnson County, a team that featured Herschel Walker in his senior season. Johnson County avenged the ECI loss twice – 32-7 in the regular season and 32-19 in the region playoffs – and won the Class A championship with a 14-1 record.
