Week 4 Team of the Week: Cedartown

Cedartown’s march to state prominence under coach Jamie Abrams has come a step at a time in his three seasons.

In year one, Cedartown won its first region title since 2001. In year two, the program reached its first semifinal in 20 years.

Last week, Cedartown beat then-No. 5 Calhoun, a Class 5A school, 21-7. That marked the first victory over a top-five team from the same or higher classification since the Bulldogs beat Cartersville in 2005.

This week, Cedartown is ranked No. 1 for the first time since 1995 and is GHSF Daily’s state Team of the Week. The award is sponsored by BSN Sports and Titan Electric.
